ANGEL FIRE RESORT KICKS OFF MOUNTAIN BIKE RACING SEASON WITH THE US PRO GRT ‘CHILE CHALLENGE’
Angel Fire Resort Guaranteeing More Benefits For Racers This Year
ANGEL FIRE, NM (April 5, 2013) — Angel Fire Resort, located in the Southern Rockies of New Mexico, will be opening their Bike Park on May 17th and they’re already in the process of preparing for the start of the summer racing season. The 25th Annual Chile Challenge US Pro GRT Event will kick off New Mexico’s mountain bike racing season at Angel Fire Resort starting Friday, June 7, 2013. This is the 25th year the resort has hosted the race and they are expecting over 500 mountain bikers in five competitive mountain bike disciplines: Downhill, Cross-country (XC), Short-track Cross-country (STXC), Hill Climb XC and Dual-Slalom (DS). Angel Fire Resort is guaranteeing racers more for their money at this year’s race by creating one of the most affordable Pro GRT races of the season. Angel Fire Bike Park organizers have been working to create some additional benefits for riders this year.
“For just the $90 entry fee for DH we will also supply each rider with a 3-day lift ticket to maximize practice time,” explains Hogan Koesis, manager, Angel Fire Bike Park. “We’re also offering more practice days than any other Pro GRT race. DH Racers have told us they need and want additional practice days, so we’ve listened. Friday and Saturday will be full practice days, with the competition not starting until Sunday.”
While the course for the Chile Challenge will not be the same as the upcoming August Gravity National Championships by participating in the Chile Challenge, riders will get a chance to preview the trails and gain a little knowledge about the mountain itself.
“This first event always draws in some of the best riders in the country, as our trails offer a variety of technical challenges and heart-pumping terrain. This race will give many riders an early opportunity to see what might be coming their way for August’s Gravity Nationals,” Koesis states.
Along with watching the races, spectators can visit bike manufacturers and equipment companies to see what’s new in mountain biking, as well as learn about the many new developments at New Mexico’s premier bike resort, Angel Fire Bike Park.
Angel Fire Bike Park, offers over 50 miles of new and enhanced trails for riders of all abilities. The Bike Park will be the first to open in the Rockies on May 17, 2013 – offering 108 days of trail riding during their season.
